Named for its landscape—reminiscent of the Scottish Highlands—Highland, Utah is located at the mouth of the American Fork Canyon, with the impressive Mt. Timpanogos to the east. Highland, was settled in 1870 but not officially incorporated until 1977. It now has a population over 17,000 and has a land area of 8.5 square miles. Highland had a 90% growth rate since the 2000 census and the average age is 22. Highland schools are part of the Alpine School District. High School students will go to either Lone Peak or American Fork High Schools. During the winter months residents are well within reach of world-class skiing at several nearby resorts, such as Robert Redford’s famous Sundance Ski Resort, as well as Snowbird, Alta, Solitude, Brighton, The Canyons, Deer Valley and the Park City Mountain Resort.

Connoisseurs of the arts enjoy having quick access to Salt Lake’s Capital Theater, the Leonardo Museum, and Abravanel Hall and the Utah Symphony.
